That's right. This one is mine, not yours.

Not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet. Maybe I'll use it to post pics of my favorite yarn balls. Like this one.

blue-yarn-ball-12708371.jpg

Nice, huh? Bet you wish you had one like. :p I might use it for that, or I might just decide that it's for my jibber-jabber.

Maybe it'll include odd phrases like: They'll be wigs on the green. Or...

Don't touch your elbow to your nose, you don't know where it's been all day.

:: nods head :: Yup. It's gonna be nice to have a thread that's all my own.

So who wants a zoo?

There are quite a few creatures in the game by now. Why not put a bunch in one place? Admittedly, there wouldn't be much more than an aesthetic purpose to it. But it also wouldn't take all that long to do. And it could be a pretty cool environment.
Maybe as a research project for a fleet?
A couple of dailies could be linked to the care of the creatures. Maybe.

Thoughts?

Klingon character revamp in the works

nuqneH Klingons!

The following is on the character art side of things but we thought it big enough news to put here in the GD thread...

We're excited to say there is a gradual but fairly good sized revamp in the works to the Klingon faction (both for players and NPC’s) to make them look tougher, more realistic, and cooler…trying to capture more the essence of the shows.

In fact, due to a recent check-in bug, some of these changes are going in even sooner than we intended! (mainly updates to male boots)

Anyway, as you’ve probably noticed, many of our older Klingon armor pieces are a bit cartoonish and/or oddly shaped, gravity-defying, and often over-sized. This was an attempt to make the Klingons look bulkier as they do in the shows. The problem is the underlying body in STO is/was usually still skinny to average in size. So the end result often looks like a skinny kid wearing oversized foam costume armor and an old man mask :P

Rest assured, we have no intention of limiting the body scaling - so you can make just as wide a range of body types as you can now. But we want to make the default, starting Klingon body type bulkier, stronger and more natural and proportionate. Additionally, we plan on a similar treatment with other species/genders as appropriate, like Orion males.

Then, with a better base body, adjustments will be made to the armor components to give a better fit.

Next, and possibly most exciting to many players, will be to include a sheathed D’k Tahg (Klingon Dagger), fingerless gloves, and a starting rank 0 sash (leather strap) as optional starting gear for Klingon faction.

Visuals to help illustrate:
http://imgur.com/bpgiA71

As I said, the updates will eventually affect the NPC’s and enemy groups as well. A rough mock-up of the general direction (note: this isn’t the final pass, the armor is not refitted and/or necessarily the final combination, and the group will have more color variance):

http://imgur.com/2EeUnQ2

And yes, female KDF will get a pass too.

Sooo....while we don't intend to do before/after shots for each and every asset, the boots already show subtle but marked improvement. For the most part the feet are a more unified and proportionate size to the rest of the body. Many of the boots are generally taller, usually over the knee, which is more directly influenced from the actual costumes on the series. And many boots got a shape massage and an extra embellishment here and there. Before and after here:

http://imgur.com/lQXxy0I

Finally, long term goals will be to possibly add and/or unlock more hairstyles.

Final, final note…this is a big undertaking that is getting addressed little by little between many of our other tasks. There isn’t a set date for it to go out, and it won’t happen soon, but there’s also a chance little bits will trickle in (or in big chunks as has happened w/ male boots :P). We’re posting here to share our plans and receive feedback early.

Thanks and hope you’re as excited about this as we are!

so, beamed into space station k7 to sell off items I dont need to the vendors, and discovered real fast, that none of the wall panels have their LCARS displays, instead having grey panels..I thought that was odd, so I went to where I know there are standard console display panels..they are missing their LCARS displays and have grey panels too! so..I beamed up, transwarped to ESD....none of the console panels have their LCARS graphics.

the holographic screens on the other hand, are just fine.

I just mastered the Na'kuhl Tadaari raider but the T5 starship trait, Spoils of the Victor, doesn't appear anywhere on the list available.

I've tried changing maps, instances, tried on ground and space, and even restarted the game but no solution yet. with other ships I've not had any issues.

THE SCIENCE CHANNEL ANNIVERSARY

Today, On February, 3, The Science Channel is celebrating its 1-year anniversary. We are more than grateful to everyone who has contributed thus far to making TSC such a wonderful channel it currently is and making science a viable means of a career in Star Trek Online. As we were afraid of Forums going offline for an unspecified time for the Season 12 update, we decided to wait a bit until we announced the last event. However, finally here it is!

No-Win Scenario Replica

“Participate now for a chance at a Paradox Temporal Dreadnought”

Note: due to Foundry restrictions, this event is FED and ROM-FED players only

Date & Time

•Feb 17th (approx. 16-20 GMT)
•Feb 18th (approx. 19-24 GMT, perhaps slightly longer)

Thanks to TSC channel operator @comrademoco, the Foundry now has a mission called „Combat Simulation 348“. While not being an exact copy -Foundry Limitations- the end result is a very close replica to the original No Win Scenario.

In this contest, a group of contestants must use their science vessel -any ship with Commander Science BOFF slot- to successfully carry, heal and protect TWO TSC experts (@tunebreaker; @mmps1) -who will take reprise the role of the transport, Foundry Limitations- at Advanced difficulty through 10 waves. The missions ends when both TSC experts die or when Wave 10 is completed.

Mission is divided into 3 stages of increasing difficulty.

Note: ALL participants (Solo - 2Man - 3Man) will have to protect TWO TSC experts.
Successfully completing a stage will enter the contestants’ names into a pool of prizes where a random generator will be used to determine the winners. The rewards are as follows;

Stage 1 (Waves 1-5; fighting Gorn)

•Paradox Temporal Dreadnought ←SHINY
•Space Trait: Biotech Patch
•Starship Trait pack: Standoff/Highly Specialized (Federation)
•Starship Trait pack: Down but not Out/Highly Specialized (Klingon)
•Isometric Charge/Antimatter Spread pack

Stage 2 (Waves 6-8; Breen)

•Master Key x5
•Fleet Ship Module
•Plasmonic Leech/Ionized Gas Sensor pack
•Constriction Anchor
•Kelvin Timeline, Kobali, Gamma Quadrant, Hirogen DOFF packs
•Contraband x250

Stage 3 (Waves 9-10; Undine/Species 8472)

•Superior Science Tech Upgrade x300
•Omega Fragments x50

Extra Prize

A randomly chosen full team has a chance to win a set of 3 state of the art Temporal Science Vessels (Wells Class) – If you want the shot at winning these shiny and TSC approved ships, make sure you join as a team of 3 or are willing to be grouped with other contestants, when entering solo.

Note: Players entering solo or in 2-member Groups will be randomly grouped with other entrant(s), unless they explicitly express their wish to solo/2-man the mission.

Need Practice?
The mission will be available for training – search for ST-HLRITMLV5 in the Foundry, Titled: “Combat Simulation 348”.
(Journal -> Foundry -> Browse All -> Search: “ST-HLRITMLV5”)

Mission begins at the door to left of the fountain on the main entrance to Club 47 at Earth Spacedock

How to Participate
To enter all you need to do is leave your in game @handle/s here in a Forum reply or send @tunebreaker an in-game mail, example of how to enter as follows;

•Solo

◦Participant: @kronos1996

•Team

◦Participants: @tunebreaker - @mmps1 - @comrademoco

As Always,
See you all in game but most of all; have fun!!!

~ The Science Channel

Anticipating some of the questions...

Can I have Foundry mission ID for copy-paste purposes?
ST-HLRITMLV5

What if times specified are totally unsuitable for me, but I really wish to participate?
Sadly neither myself or Nirett can commit 24 hours a day to playing STO. However, if you manage to get a full team of 3 people together and contact me in-game, I believe we can work something out.

If I reach Stage 2, does it mean I don't have a chance winning Paradox anymore?
Reaching Stage 2/3 will still have you eligible for all prizes in Stage 1, including the main prize. You just have better chances to win *something* if you reach higher stages. Also, the winner of Paradox will be drawn first, so there's an equal chance for everyone to win it, provided you got through at least Stage 1.

I can't find the starting point. Help?
Hopefully this picture helps you to find it. When you have accepted the mission, the "Begin Simulation" choice should appear near that place.

Can we get more secondary deflectors with set bonuses?

$

I know that only science ships have the secondary deflector slot, but I'd really like to see EVERY deflector/engine/warp core/shield set include a secondary deflector as part of the set going forward.

I don't want to see OP set bonuses for secondary deflectors, but we need more variety for secondary deflectors and different set bonuses for different secondary deflectors is one way for the devs to make that happen.

Frankly, I'm amazed that neither the Braydon set from the anniversary nor the Lukari Restorative reputation set has a unique secondary deflector as part of the set. Both those sets were made primarily for science ships ... so it REALLY stands out that neither of those sets have a secondary deflector.

Tzenkethi Battlezone Still bugged

The Tzenkethi Battlezone is still bugged. I have not yet checked ALL instances, but in the one I was just in the center area is impossible to complete.

So while the zone way spawn enemies now, it is still impossible to actually complete. So even after the patch this content is still not useable.

We still only have three quarters of the content they promised us.

I was really looking forward to the new battlezone, to me, they are the best things about this game. I am very disappointed it is malfunctioning.

STO is not starting on DX11 mode on Windows 10 home. Drivers are up to date on the system. Video card is GTX1070.
Further, the game does no longer allow DX9 mode and displays a warning saying it is no longer supported and it switches automatically to DX11.
Launcher works, but the game does nor start.

Auto activation of skills for PC?

I've played both the console and pc versions and to be honest I am somewhat annoyed at the PC version's lack of auto activation. I find it annoying having to split my focus between having fun and manually activating endless amounts of skills and abilities.. will they ever put this feature into the PC version? I think it's be a lot easier for people. especially new players

What would be your ultimate wish-list item?

If Cryptic could add one thing to the game what would be your most desired? Feel free to post a top 5 if you like, but what's the 1 thing you really wish the most that they'd add to the game?

For me my #1 would be a playable end-game level refit Constitution class like the Enterprise-A. That has always been my favorite ship and I'd really like to be able to have one that was actually playable for any of the end-game content.

After that:
#2: A real exploration mode. One that focuses more on finding peaceful solutions rather than fighting, but that when fighting does occur it's not the boring "squadrons" bull they have now. Just you and one enemy ship, the fights are TV-show like in the fact that they're fairly short and making good tactical decisions quickly decides the outcome.

#3: The ability to remain in the 23rd century and have an explorable and playable map (even if it's fairly small) where you get to properly upgrade your ship and have a few good story arcs.

[CONTENT] Kelsid system patrol accolades Prepared, Anticipated, and Expected broken

Summary
Content: Episode: "Better With Friends" - Kelsid system patrol

Reproduction Steps
#1 Launch StarTrek.
#2 Start the "Better With Friends" episode.
#3 Go to Kelsid system and start patrol.
#4 Deploy all the turrets to the North.

Actual Result
You don't get the Anticipated accolade

Expected Result
You get the Anticipated accolade

Notes
- Tested on Holodeck.
- All 3 accolades are broken (Prepared, Anticipated, and Expected). I only put the steps for one, but you can take in a team of 5, deploy every single turret in the map, and still get no accolades.

I dont know if this is a bug or intentional but seeing i cant find anything and they are announcing more ships without anything on the pilot ships i was wondering if a dev or moderator can spread some enlightenment on this. I have been like not spending money waiting to buy the ships along with half of 2 relatively large fleets im in on kdf and fed sides both. Is this a bug? Is it a delay. Can someone spread some enlightenment to whats going on with this please it would be greatly appreciated to actually get an answer on something for once. Rather than 30 days of nothing till something is fixed.

Info@LibertyTaskForce.com

Dear Star Trek Online Gamer,

Liberty Task Force is recruiting. Please consider us as you Star Trek Online fleet. Here is a little bit about us...

Our Mission:

Liberty Task Force is a Star Trek Online gaming fleet and community. It was established on April 28th, 2013. Our mission and goal was to create a fun and friendly gaming community for both new and veteran players, and that's exactly what we have accomplished. We started this fleet with one key central idea in mind: that every member, whether their rank be high or low, have a voice on fleet business and that their voice be heard and acknowledged. That's why, along with a fair and highly structured ranking system, we proudly boast a voting system for major fleet amendments, regulations, activities, and events including major fleet holding projects. We believe that the fleet belongs to all its members not just the top few or the "in-crowd". Our ranking system is based on contributions levels to the fleet in-game and access to fleet stores start at only 100,000 total contributions. There is plenty of room for advancement for those that seek it. Nevertheless, we also welcome "solo" players that want the benefits of a fleet without having to commit a lot of time, effort, contributions, or having to pass all kinds of online gaming tests or roll-calls; though we do ask our members to register via the website and log into the game at least once every 60 days in order to remain active on the roster (we believe this is both fair and reasonable).

We are laid-back and respectful players. We do not judge anyone based on race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation, economic status, political and religious beliefs, or your gaming style (so long as it doesn't impede with anyone else's). We won't berate and yell at you if you have to leave an STF or Fleet Action in the middle of the mission because the family or real-life come calling; we understand we have those too. If you want to learn the game, this is a great fleet to be in. If you want to teach new players the in's and out's of the game, this is a great fleet to be in. If you simply are looking for a group of friends that share similar interests, this is a great fleet to be in. We have members from all over the world; from across the U.S.A. to across parts of Europe so there is bound to be someone online on our website or in-game with whom to interact with. In fact we have high ranking positions that are filled by players in the United States as well as across Europe. (We still have many high ranking positions open and ready to be filled).

We offer opportunities and activities for both the casual and hard-core gamer alike. Everyone is welcome and we offer PvE in STF's and Fleet Actions, as well as PvP events, and even some light RP. We also have fleet activities where members can win great in-game prizes like ship boxes, keys, EC, and more. Again, we are also happy to house the "solo" player that just likes to play the episodes or foundry missions or just grind with their character. We sport an active website with forums, galleries, chat, and much more including voice chat to communicate with each other within the game. Feel free to have a look around www.libertytaskforce.com and make yourself at home. There is something here for everyone and we hope you join our Star Trek Online family community and we hope even more that you decide to join our fleet. Should you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to contact me directly at Info@LibertyTaskForce.com once again thank you for considering us. Take care.

Best Regards,
-Jose a.k.a Grayfox
