About the utility of holodeck

Hi,

With the multiplication of factions and timelines, developers are now talking about "simulation" to describe the fact of playing an episode from another faction. This could be an opportunity to give holodecks a real role !

Holodecks are underused in STO. The only ones that exist are in social areas and in some ships interiors, but they are useless. So, why not make all those missions that do not belong to the main story of a faction be available in the holodecks (making sure to incorporate one in all the ship interiors)? This could give holodecks real utility and it would make more sense from the RP perspective.

How can abilities just 'disappear' from your bars?
It happens everyday.
You can't even code your ability bars correctly.
Maybe fix these issue before barreling into a new season.
Oh, no, your blinders on what may bring new revenue prevents you from seeing the simple state of the 'game'.

Please use this thread to post all feedback and issues found in regards to our streamlining of the mission journal.

Streamlining the Mission Journal:
  • With the launch of Age of Discovery, we have chosen to update the story experience throughout the episode journal.
  • We’ve moved a number of episodes which occurred before the Delta Quadrant Arc out of the required mission journal flow.
    • These episodes will still be available via hand-off missions in the Available missions tab.
  • In addition to this, Task Force Operations will be unlocked at lower levels as players progress through the episode arcs.
    • Task Force Operations is the new name for PvE Queues.
  • These changes mostly impact Federation captains but some changes were made for Klingon and Romulan Captains.
  • This is still a work in progress.

Episode/Mission Skip Still Not Working Properly?

I had a character log onto Tribble to try skipping through missions. Not only am I needed a number of map transitions to get some "Skip" options to show up, but I'm hitting a roadblock at the Yesterday's War arc. I did Temporal Ambassador, but I can't get to any episode beyond that, either to Skip or Play.

Hi guys! I got a request to start a serious RP thread, so here it is. That last one got out of control, lol. So I guess we can keep the craziness over there. I'll add my first post here as soon as I can, but in the meantime feel free to start. (cc @the0infamous )

RP/fic any of your Fed/Rom Captains at Earth Spacedock:

Rules/tips:
  • No NSFW stuff.
  • Don't take over other people's RP characters (unless they're okay with it).
  • In general, 'conveniently omit' context that denotes your character as "the player/the one" from in-game, and, rather, generalize events, so as to maintain a shared semi-non-conflicting RP-thread continuity. [Notes: It is not to say your character didn't engage in specific episodes/events, but not to specify they did either.] [Exceptions: Large scale events, like fleet battles (i.e. The Iconian attack at Earth, or general Na'Khul alerts) are encouraged to mention, but may still require some generalization. Use your best judgement!] For major exceptions to this rule, see the discussion thread for an ongoing list of episode/event involvement.
  • The RP is in a perpetual state of the year 2410 (until the game moves forward).

Types of play (can combine more than one):
  • Integrated with story - Join other Captains in solving an issue
  • One off/or more than one off - Like a mini fanfic, make a short stop to replenish supplies, drop prisoners, etc.
  • Side story - Posts about stuff your Captain is dealing with. Can work well with "Integrated with story".
  • (That's all I can think of right now. There's probably more ways.)

XMPP protocol messed up after @handle and email change

XMPP chat is now broken for me on my main account, pms to me don't come and now a more recent development the chat does not work randomly. The other account keeps getting a 'Not Authorised' error when trying to connect. The issues started just after my email switched with my other account and the @handle on my main was changed, it could be either one or both, have no idea but support seems to agree with this assumption.

I think it was about 3 weeks ago I wasn't getting pms on my main account via XMPP anymore, never tried my other until I noticed the issues. I've tried alternative programs to make sure it wasn't Pidgin and the issues was consistent across them all so at that point I reached out to support. I have spent the last week with support, and I don't doubt efforts where made the issue since the start has only got worse. The recent patch or efforts from support have now broken it completely, I have no idea what happen but the timing was to close between the patch and supports reply. I was asked to post a bug report here, have no idea what I'm doing but I do it. To be clear I'm not blaming or bashing support, if anything I thank them for their constant aid with my issues.

I'm getting ever more frustrated as this was a big factor in getting a lifetime subscription, also, fireworks, those are great. The worst is people thinking I'm ignoring them because they can still send me pms, I just don't get them, I'll leave it at that but it's only getting worse.

Pilot Raptors Missing in Tribble Tailor

This is my Pilot Raptor ship in the Holodeck Tailor.
Notice: I can switch all the parts between all the different Pilot ships (I have all 3). I can paint it...etc...

This is the same Pilot Raptor ship in the TRIBBLE Tailor.
And this happens to ALL 3 Pilot Raptor ships. They are not dialed into the Tailor at all. :(
Note: I do not know how many other ships are disabled, like this. As I do not collect many ships.

Also, on TRIBBLE, please check on the menu for PATTERN...in the Advanced section of the Tailor selections.
That menu stretches out across the screen, and you can watch it as is creeps across the screen. It stops at a much wider point than on Holodeck on every ship I checked on.

I'm a lifetime sub since 2013, I try to log in to tribble I get "Unable to start game client: client quit unexpectedly" and the crash handler popup. I can get onto holodeck with no problems.

Oberth T6 Freedom Class and Springfield Class

I would like to see a Springfield Class and as well a Multi Scout Class Type that will allow a T6 Oberth Class as well a Freedom Class that can span between the Eras from Star Trek TOS to Beyond TNG Era one of the Reasons for a Multi Scout Class Vessel is that was really a Oberth Class can be from science medical to Escort and Rescue and more and it can have many confergerations too

With the shuttle event going on, I am seeing quite an array of what seem to be fascinating shuttle configurations that I never thought of. What do you folks like to put on your shuttles?

In most cases, mine are the leftovers after rigging my starships. Pretty consistently I use a Martok Omni/Disruptor Omni or a Trilithium Phaser/Agony Torpedo, with Bajor, Quantum, or Braydon, whichever my character's main damage type isn't. A notable exception is my main's Widow, which uses:

Tetryon BA with [over]
Thermionic Torpedo
Braydon Set
Cardassian Support Platform (apparently less useful than I thought)
Tetryon VL
Sticky Web

Skills Screen UI error

Bug: UI shows skills invalid

Description: as above, when doing a respec the message is still displayed regardless of how many times the player respecs their skills.

Category: UI (poss systems???)

How it happened:
  1. Start a daily reputation mission and complete.
  2. EDIT ADDITION Get rep to T6.
  3. *Did projects for respec token, vanity shield and FSM.
  4. Message in Reputation UI reports skills invalid.
  5. Goto skills screen
  6. Respec skills and spend skill points as required
  7. Message "Skills invalid" still remains.

Commentary:

* The three projects may be the cause I don't know as I only noticed the error after they were done.

After the respec the message in the reputation screen cleared and I was also able to spend specialization points where I wanted. After the respec even though the message remained I could not tell if my game-play was affected or not, and none of the amount of damage or healing seemed to be affected leading me to believe that this is a UI error only.

However given that it costs players for the respec tokens this error message could lead players to believe there is a problem with their skills and so continuously payout for tokens that are not required!

I have Lifetime, I have several Borg characters, and quite frankly, I am missing a few things.

Now, before you begin about "NO BORG CUBE, NO BORG SPERE, ..." this post is NOT ABOUT THAT.

It IS however about the characters itself, I miss the "Borg Armors", Borg Prostethics (arms etc), the tubes...
Sure, it is only a visual thing, but hey, I think, in an RPG, "REALITY" is a must.

On the other hand, I would not mind a Sphere or Cube, ofc... XD

Please, Arc, do give us some aesthetics for our beloved Borg?

Is there a way to get triggers for different actions within dialog e.g.

Access alien computer

Option 1: Hack it
Option 2: bypass isolinear lockouts

Can you make it so that the wrong option, in this case option 2, spawns enemies and option 1 just allow you to continue the mission normally?

TL;DR - how will it affect Delta Recruits/etc.?

Owing to lack of inclination and "I'll do it later" my Delta Recruits (the Temporal and Gamma guys are mostly done) are still barely started. While I know the missions aren't being removed except for a few of the Klingon War arc, which my Fed recruit has already done so that isn't an issue for me, I would like to know if I can carry on as usual, or if I have to rush through nearly all the missions on 3 characters and finish the rest on a 4th before presumably October 9th...

Why did the Devs create Salvage to use for re-engineering gear?

It seems odd to me that the Devs created a whole new resource to use for re-engineering gear. I mean, why didn't they use the otherwise useless Gold Pressed Latinum instead of creating the ability to "Salvage" items?
In the Star Trek Universe there isn't much, maybe nothing, as valuable as Gold Pressed Latinum. The Devs need to be reminded of this, it seems they don't know. We have very little to choose from when it comes to spending our GPL. Ship holograms are fairly useless in my opinion and do not cost a whole heck of a lot. Plus we have the Ferengi Admirlity that rewards a ton of GPL. I have toons in the game that currently have upwards of 10 million GPL and I can't do anything with it that helps me in any way. Cosmetics are unimportant.
I just don't understand this at all. They could have very easily made the re-engineering cost GPL instead of creating a whole new resource.
So, since they really dropped the ball on that, how about introduce some USEFUL stuff that we can buy with the millions of GPL most of us now have that is just collecting dust.
