I hadn't thought about this much until I read the latest state of the game update released recently.
One of the lines referenced an new ST series (Discovery) and I thought, nice, a new series!

I was disappointed to discover it was a prequel to TOS, not a continuation of the current timeline.
It could have even been a tie-in to the mmo, seeing the events of the game from a distant perspective, like a ship on the outskirts of the Federation reacting to what happens ingame without directly being involved much.
This is so they wouldn't have to be telling the stories of the game all the time and could tell their own stories for the most part.

So far, all I've seen in tv, movies and the mmo is backwards regression, the AOY update was used to add a lot of TOS specific content, the movies, Enterprise and Discovery all predate the TOS era.

Given that I am disappointed with Cryptic for not fully finishing the TNG content updates, I am concerned that when Discovery is released, they'll just use it as a reason to introduce a season update based fully around that show instead of working on the TNG completion.

And please note, I am not saying they can't do this, just they have to finish all the TNG content first.

Anyone else feel the T5 Infinity ship pack is getting the short end?

This is the second time they've taken ships out of the pack. There were ships added to the T6 pack thought. Weren't they just going to add ships to the packs? A lot of us lost the chance to claim something like the Jem'hadar ship.

Whenever I try the minigame, regardless of which character I use or whether I use the ground or space particles, the exact same thing happens:

The minigame ends a few seconds after I start it, giving me just a single trace. This is exactly the same problem as last year, why it's become broken again I've no idea, yet no-one else seems to be affected. Is there something obvious that I'm missing?

How does Global Cooldown work?

I really couldn't find a good explanation either in the STO forums or the STO Wiki. I notice when Tyken's Rift gets triggered automatically, it triggers a cool down on my Gravity Well III. Is that part of global cooldown?

I also see many recommendations to use two Tactical Team I for the cool down. How does that work? I'm on the PS4 and since I don't have a ton of keys to push, I have most abilities on automatic as it gets too hectic in combat. I have seen the recommendation to add a Gravity Well I to go with my GW III but not sure how I would set it up on a console to reduce the cool down. Should GW I be auto activated or does GW I just occupy a slot and that is it to help reduce the cool down?

Enemies stronger in STFs?

So I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I just want to make sure about this and that I'm not missing something. Are enemies stronger in STFs? I've built myself a nice little fleet of ships, each with they're own equipment and while I try to upgrade them as best I can, I have too many to try and get them all up to MKXIV Epic, the most I try for is MKXIII UR, with a few exceptions. However thats not the issue, is solo missions, or at least in missions that can be played solo, I do a fair amount of damage and have no problem taking out groups of ships on Advanced difficulty. However as soon as I go into an STF, even set to Normal, I still hardly do any damage. I've never parsed it, but from the numbers I see it simply seems like the enemies in STFs have a LOT more shields. Is this true?

Suggestions for exotic heavy build - Sutherland

Morning everyone, I've been working on my new shiny Sutherland class trying to get the most out of a very science heavy build aimed at exotic damage and torpedoes. Before I link my full build, what suggestions can you guys offer in terms of getting the highest DPS possible using this combination?

My current BOFF set up is as follows, subspace vortex I, gravity well III and tachyon beam III (with the Sutherland AoE shield DoT). I'm using phased quantum torps (to strip any shields left) with neutronic and terran rep photon torps for radiation and sheer damage output (terran torp on lowish HP targets is great). My tac stations are using two copies of TT1 with APB and TS3 and TS2.

Now the burst damage this offers is great, but my overall DPS isn't fantastic it only parsed 26k in ISA last night although it might not have been a completely optimal run. My TOS Tactical toon with the Kelvin Connie parses roughly 50k easily sometimes peaking above that so I'm curious how I can improve my consistent DPS outside of burst damage from space magic abilities.

Any DOFF's you can recommend? Science ships are somewhat limited in comparison to the numerous perks the tactical DOFF's offer them.

So I'm guessing that if you have a Maxed out lvl toon on the pc that you can not play with him on the ps4......I'm not sure if I want to start all over but willing to give it a shot.......Would be nice to be able to play my toon on the ps4 and pc." JUST SAYING"

Textures not working on my own ships

So, just bought the 31st century pack, but the ships are totally devoid of any textures. This also happens to my Andorean ships.
Tried reinstalling the game with no luck. Remember this was a problem many years ago, but very disappointed this problem is still here. The ships weren't exactly cheap :/

Any tip, or do I just have to suck it up?

Edit 2: Nvm, seems like it's the Dielectric Oscillation Resilient Shields that are bugged. Either that or just damn ugly..

Ideas to boost Engineers in space?

Tacs have their tactical buffs (crit severity + chance bonuses, resistance ignore, increased arc/shots per volley etc.) and science has debuffs (shield and power drain, removal of enemy buffs, disabling and shield ignoring damage).

What (if anything) should they give Engineers? Something new, something that's taken away from the other careers?

If Cryptic could add one thing to the game what would be your most desired? Feel free to post a top 5 if you like, but what's the 1 thing you really wish the most that they'd add to the game?

For me my #1 would be a playable end-game level refit Constitution class like the Enterprise-A. That has always been my favorite ship and I'd really like to be able to have one that was actually playable for any of the end-game content.

After that:
#2: A real exploration mode. One that focuses more on finding peaceful solutions rather than fighting, but that when fighting does occur it's not the boring "squadrons" bull they have now. Just you and one enemy ship, the fights are TV-show like in the fact that they're fairly short and making good tactical decisions quickly decides the outcome.

#3: The ability to remain in the 23rd century and have an explorable and playable map (even if it's fairly small) where you get to properly upgrade your ship and have a few good story arcs.
