How often does the Omega mission daily refresh?

$

I have the Wolf 359 bug and can't complete the daily because I can't enter the Wolf359 system. I have dropped and picked up the daily multiple times hoping I would not get Wolf 359 again, but I got it every time. Will it reset later today or do I have to wait until tomorrow?

Really liking the new Tzenkethi PVE queus

As much of a dire situation the PVE queue list is most of the time, I actually kinda think that the Tzenkethi PVE queues might last awhile.

They are fun, not overly difficult, and actually give out some decent mark rewards.

Pugged them both a few times earlier today and got 60+ marks every time, even with what would normally e considered a "bad" team.

MAYBE they might last a bit longer then the others.

Why is Battle Group Omega still on the map?

So Cryptic, you rolled out a new sector space map, and managed to
-Fix the "Gon'Cra Neubla" type
-Move the Tzenkethi Battlezone marker to the Gon'Cra system where is actually is, from the Gon'Cra nebula, where it was erroneously placed
-Moved Galorndon Core's galaxy map marker to the proper sector y'all had moved it too some time ago

But failed to remove the big honkin Battle Group Omega marker on the galaxy map, even though y'all removed it not too long ago, and despite the fact I know,m for a fact, y'all had it pointed out, and acknowledged it, more then once when the new map was still on tribble.

Why Cryptic....... WHY!!!

(Totally trivial and basically meaningless complaint)

Never got EC from Exchange sales

$

Kind of an odd, but pretty infuriating one. I came back from a trip out of town this weekend to find that I had sold nearly 20 million worth in EC! A lot of it had been sitting in the Exchange for over a week now, so I was happy to see it finally move.

Except for one problem: the EC isn't there. The character in question had around 5.4million to his name when I left, and despite all of the sales he still has the same 5.4. I'm a subscriber, so pretty sure this isn't a cap issue (especially since I have another character that has tens of millions in his account).

Maybe... the character in question, I did buy and use a rename token on him recently. Maybe that caused my EC to just vanish into the void?

Hopefully this can be fixed, would absolutely hate to lose that much EC when I'm working so hard to save it up.

EDIT: And yes, I'm confident about the price of the goods (well, mostly DOFFs) I sold. While I already deleted the emails before I checked to see if the money was actually there (stupid, now I know), I have duplicates still in the Exchange of basically everything I sold. I put them in there in bulk, so the price should be identical for those that sold to those that are still on sale.

(Console) Winter vanity pets no longer work

After the Winter Wonderland was taken down January 12th, all of the winter wonderland vanity pets (excluding epohhs).
This includes but is not limited to
-Snowman
-Snowconian
-Abomidorable snowman
-and any of the gingerbread people

Considering I worked my butt off to get 34 of the abomidorable snowmen to sell on the exchange, I along with many others would really appreciate if this was fixed.

[Tool] Foundry Export - Extract Dialog for Spell Check

$

0
I just realized, that I cannot keep myself short. So here are the essentials:

I made a program. It's called "Foundry Export". Your can download it here. It can help you with checking the dialog and spelling of your foundry mission. Instructions are included.

I also just realized, that the inability to keep myself short is probably a key reason in me needing a program to check absolutely monstrous dialog trees in my foundry missions.

Have Fun*

*Fun is not guaranteed. Terms and conditions may apply.

And now, the long-winded version I couldn't help but post anyway:

Hello my dear anglophone fellows,

I bear greetings from the German Foundry community - and also a gift. When I was proofreading a fellow authors mission, a thought came to mind: There had to be an easier and all around better way to extract the dialog from the export file.

So I downloaded Visual Studio and came up with a little program that does exactly that. You simply open your export file, hit a button and out comes a (hopefully) neatly formatted .txt document you can load into MS Word or Open Office to check for spelling errors.

As we all know too well, the dialog interface of the foundry editor is far from perfect and tends to do just as well as the attempt to invade Russia during winter. Basically, it's a total mess and nobody is happy about it. I am aware that some of you take the high road and write their dialog outside the foundry editor. This program will most likely only be of limited use to you. However, the rest of you might find it helpful, which is reason enough for me to share this little side project of mine with you guys and gals.

So, how does it work? It's quite simple, actually:

1. Load your foundry mission and play test a map.
2. Enter /ugcEditorExportProject Mission.txt in the chat. This will create the export file. It will be stored in the C:\ [...]Star Trek Online\Live\Data folder.
3. Star the Foundry Export, click on “Open File” select your export file
4. Click on “Extract Dialog” and give it a few seconds.
5. Congratulations, you now have a formatted text document with all your dialog
6. Check your spelling with a program of your choice

I tried my best to keep the extract short, structured and understandable. Export files can have thousands of pages, the extract has only a fraction of that. And if a say fraction, I mean it. One of my mission got down to 2% of its original size – I calculated!

But what else does Foundry Export do? I'm so glad you asked!

I added labels to differentiate between objectives, actors, buttons, dialog, etc. and some more context clues so you can easily find your text back in the foundry editor. Text was put in order of type or map. Furthermore, the extract only shows the text / dialog, the player actually has a chance to see. No one cares that you named your Gorn captain-group “Hellish Boss Fight Lizards of Doom” or that you called your interactable replicator “Janeway's glorified coffeemaker”. The player won't see it, you don't have to check your spelling. Consequentially, unused maps are also omitted.

However, every bit of text the player can read will be extracted with absolutely no mercy. This obviously includes all kinds of dialog with their title and buttons (Mission Description, Grant Mission Dialog, pop up dialog, Talk to Contact objectives, default prompts), but also the names of NPC contacts, actors of NPC-groups, interactable objects in space and basically everything – except one: Interact buttons that read “Interact” sadly are not distinguishable from buttons, that just have their default text left unchanged. Some of them might not even be seen in the mission. The export file is weird that way and I don't want to bore to with unnecessary technical detail. On second thought, I might have already done that, but I hope in a reasonably humorous way. And who needs to check the spelling of default interact buttons anyway?

You might now ask yourself, whether you should really download some ominous program from the interwebs without ever having seen what it does. Well, let me put your mind to rest. If you would be so kind and click this link, you will see the extracted dialog of one of my missions. It might be a German mission, but the formatting should speak for itself. Look at it. Look. At. It. Isn't it beautiful?

By now, you should be convinced to give this little program a chance. And even if you prefer to write your dialog outside the editor, there might always be a few mistakes in things you have changed later or the name of inconsequential NPC contact number 47. Even just changing the formatting can help by giving you a fresh look on your mission. There have been studies on that – which I am too lazy to look up. If you are still not sure about this, let me just add that I've hidden my family's secret almond-cokkie recipe inside the program. These cookies are so delicious, we, the German foundry community, are currently trying to bribe our CM with them. If you want them, you have no other choice but to download this program.

Please feel free or urged or pressed to download Foundry Export here:
To conclude, I have to admit that I am in fact not a programmer. This is the first thing I have ever made in Visual Studios. It looked so easy at the beginning, I lost all respect for the professionals within 5 minutes and then gained it back during several curse-filled days of excruciatingly tedious regex expressions. (You don't know what “regex” is? Consider yourself lucky.) Basically, this is a hobby project and I can not guarantee you it won't melt you PC, convince cybernetically enhanced squirrels to launch an attack on you or cause the sun to explode. It has been tested, of course. And quite successfully. So far there have been no sights of mischievous rodents or exploding stars. But one can never be too careful.

That said, I bid you farewell. Yours truly

benalexander

Enemies stronger in STFs?

So I'm sure this is a dumb question, but I just want to make sure about this and that I'm not missing something. Are enemies stronger in STFs? I've built myself a nice little fleet of ships, each with they're own equipment and while I try to upgrade them as best I can, I have too many to try and get them all up to MKXIV Epic, the most I try for is MKXIII UR, with a few exceptions. However thats not the issue, is solo missions, or at least in missions that can be played solo, I do a fair amount of damage and have no problem taking out groups of ships on Advanced difficulty. However as soon as I go into an STF, even set to Normal, I still hardly do any damage. I've never parsed it, but from the numbers I see it simply seems like the enemies in STFs have a LOT more shields. Is this true?

Well ****. Now I'm gonna be the one calling for Emergency Maintenance!?!

Had to go to sleep and so close game when the space battle portion "Of Signs and Portents" started, called Harbinger in the Jod'Cor system. Once I get back into the mission I am in a large rectangular map with the 'Unyielding - Answer Hail' mission request on my screen. But no enemies, allies or HAIL option to pick. So looks like that part of the mission if you leave. Already tried logging off, and restarting the game, and using '/stuck', and I know 'Request a GM' is useless.

Since I don't want to f'up someone else's day by having this fixed in a patch or maintenance, gonna just start over the episode for the good of all of us with jobs & life that conflicts with this aggravating game!

No Lights in Fluid Dynamics Mission

Since Signs and Portents hit the servers, I can't do Fluid Dynamics. I warp into Fluidic Space, and its pitch black. All i can see are white boxes with "USS Voyage" written over them flying around. I tried everything, force verify, switching lighting 2.0 off, reducing gfx, dropping the mission, rebooting, updating graphics drivers.

Then i found the problem : in Graphics Options, if UNDERWATER VIEW is ON, Fluidic dynamics is pitch black. can't see a thing. if you switch it to OFF, you see everything again. Only took me an hour to work that out :)

(have to say i've never had that issue before, and I played Fluidic dynamics about a week before Signs and Portents came out. so I'm thinking that whatever graphic upgrade you did to make the water in S&P look so amazing also broke Fluid Dynamics.)

Updated System Requirements for Star Trek Online

$
0
0
Hey folks,

As of March 1st, 2017, Star Trek Online will no longer be supporting Windows XP and Direct3D 9, or Video Cards with a Direct3D Hardware Feature Level less than 10.0. This decision was made in order to improve game performance and to optimize the player experience. In order to make this transition as smooth as possible, we have put together a quick FAQ.

What is the timeline for these changes?
You will have plenty of time to upgrade!
  • After December 5, 2016, if you are running on Windows XP or using Direct3D 9, or using a Video Card with a Direct3D Hardware Feature Level less than 10.0, the launcher will inform you of that fact.
  • After January 15, 2017 the launcher will change your game settings to use Direct3D 11 if your system is compatible with it.
  • As of March 1, 2017, Star Trek Online will no longer be supporting Windows XP and Direct3D 9, or Video Cards with a Direct3D Hardware Feature Level less than 10.0.

What Operating System should I be upgrading to?
For the best play experience, Cryptic Studios recommends Windows 10. Note that you will need a Video Card that supports Direct3D Hardware Feature Level 11.0 or better to play on Windows 10.

The game will run on Windows Vista SP2 or better, or Windows 7 or 8 as well. Be aware that Microsoft is discontinuing supporting for Windows Vista as of April 2017.

What cards should I be looking for if I have to upgrade?
For the best play experience, Cryptic Studios recommends a video card that supports Direct3D Feature Level 11.0 or better. This includes:
  • NVidia GeForce GTX 400 or better
  • ATI/AMD Radeon HD 5000 or better
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000 or better

If you are budget conscious, any of the following cards will function. Many of these cards are several years old, but they will still provide a basic Star Trek Online experience.
  • NVidia GeForce 8000 or better
  • ATI/AMD Radeon HD 2000 or better
  • Intel G965M Express, or Intel HD Graphics 2000 or better

Above all, take a close look at the Video Card manufacturer’s documentation for any card you are going to purchase, and ensure that the card specifically says it supports Direct3D Hardware Feature Level 10 or higher.

Please feel free to discuss this change in this thread, and let us know any further questions. We will be updating this thread with any additional notices or clarifications as needed.

Please note: For those of you currently having issues with your Direct 3D9 cards, Cryptic is still looking into a fix for that particular issue.

Since we are dealing with Protomatter and 23rd Century gear, any chance at getting a Genesis Torpedo to create our own world? After all, the Lukari have found a way to stabilize protomatter, so there shouldn't be an issue with a new Marcus Genesis Torp.

When launching the Aero Shuttle from the Intrepid it flies off into the distance, it no longer fights but flees. Whilst some may find this amusing it is badly broken, please can you take a look at it.

Reports are saying the same thing is happening to MVAm pets, saucers, and basically any non-hangar pet.

During these missions, you will be playing the role of your counterparts from the Mirror Universes.

Mirror Wars 1 takes place after the events of the original Mirror Universe missions from the Cardassian Arc, which were removed when season 11 arrived. If you are unfamiliar with them, fear not I have brought them back with the foundry.
Mirror Wars 2 takes place after the Iconian War during the Terran Empire's invasion of the Federation lead by Admiral Leeta.

-Redux- Tear of the Prophets
-Redux- Crack in the Mirror
-Redux- The Other Side

(Note: These above three missions were created by Cryptic Studios, all I've done is brought them back, and tried to 'spice' them up a bit.)

Finally got the KDF ship and then had a dilemma.
I couldn't decide if B'rel Bird-of-Prey Retrofit without the upgrade was as good as Hegh'ta Heavy Bird-of-Prey. I'm still using the Hegh'ta, since I can't see much of a difference and it seems the better choice (plus the custom on it is nicer to look at for a while).

Spent a day leveling so I could unlock it, when I probably should have been hunting Omega, only... Only, those stupid particles are still floating infront of my eyes. Not a big fan of the mini-games made-for-flash-phones-but-put-in-a-pc-game.

*re-reads the stats on those* Okay. So the B'rel has an Enhanced Battlecloak. Hmm... use as a torp-boat maybe? but the turn-over on all torps isn't very great, I wouldn't think. May need to try it out.
