Introduction to UFP

Since it's creation in May 2002, the UFP has grown from a small Star Trek gaming clan to what it is today, an international Star Trek community made by fans, for fans.

It is a place where thousands of Star Trek fans of all ages from all around the world come together to share in their passion for all things Star Trek. With a team of more than fifty dedicated volunteers who all love Star Trek, their mission is to make sure our community members have the best and most unique Star Trek experience on the internet. The UFP provides the ultimate fan club, without the fees, without the fuss and without the cliche mistakes.

We offer a lot more to Star Trek fans than simply a place to talk about Star Trek. UFP also actively supports a range of Star Trek games from the MMO 'Star Trek Online' to classic titles such as 'Star Trek: Bridge Commander' and 'Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force' as well as roleplaying via Forum SIMMs and RPG-X. UFP also features it's own in-house news team who report the latest Star Trek news as well as producing thought provoking articles and delivering world exclusive interviews."

What the UFP offers it members:

  • A rich and vibrant community made up of members of all ages from more than 40 different nationalities.
  • Award winning authentic Star Trek website and forums.
  • Moderated TeamSpeak 3 server.
  • News area featuring exclusive news reports, interviews and articles.

What the UFPlanets.com Community asks of its gaming members (what we call the Starfleet branch):

All that members are asked for from the UFPlanets.com Community is simple and easy. Members are asked to sign the Community Roll Call which happens on a quarterly basis. This can be done fairly easily with just a few clicks of the mouse. The second is to adhere to our simple Community code of conduct.

Why should I join the UFPlanets.com Community?

Our gaming fleet, known as 'The United Federation of Planets', has been voted the world's number one Star Trek gaming fleet and for good reason, we have a large and friendly membership, dedicated officers and an award winning website and forums all of which is in addition to our strong support for a range of Star Trek titles some of which we are able to provide to our members for free!

We're eager to build on our success and develop an equally impressive Star Trek community where fans of all ages from around the world can enjoy a truly authentic and entertaining Star Trek social experience.

Despite our achievements and successes we are aware that our community might not be for everyone so if you would like to know more please feel free to pay us a visit at www.ufplanets.com to find out more about us.

To those interested in Armada Partnerships:

We are very interested in finding reputable and well-respected community partners to form new relationships. The UFP Armada is designed with a community focus at the forefront and we have been an influential part of the Star Trek gaming scene for over 13 years. What separates our Armada from others you may come across is our dedication to members and those wishing to align themselves with us.

We have an extensive history with STO, including interviews with influential developers, assistants and stars with more planned for the future. We also have a number of dedicated STO players who are always willing to help others out with builds, tips and tricks, helping players with their own goals, or just getting together for fun.

The UFP is currently spread across 7 total fleets, 4 Federation and 3 KDF. We have a 60 day inactivity policy enforced for our primary fleets, but our alt fleets are unrestricted. The UFP currently has over 1300 active characters and 600 unique STO members.

We would like to be your home away from home among the stars. We support autonomy for all armada members, but we will also work to ensure that you have representation and a voice in matters affecting relations between different groups, the management of armada features, and an open line of communication to discuss concerns and questions. Your fleet will be recognized as an important part of our greater community!

Who is Your Voice Actor/Actress?

If your primary online persona was slated to be voiced by a famous actor/actress, who would it be?

I ended up discussing this with Trendy somehow... long, rambly conversation. Anyway, it got me curious how other folks see themselves in-game, or online.

If Borticus, the Forum Persona, were to be voiced by a well-known actor, I think I'd like it to be Nathan Fillion / Malcolm Reynolds. Authoritative, but snarky and empathetic.

My in-game character on the other hand - a somewhat androgynous grey alien thing - I'd totally go for Jennifer Hale. I don't care if the toon is "male" she's just too awesome.

How about you?

Temporal Warship Bundle

I purchased the temporal warship bundle for PS4 and can use all the ships accept the Klingon ship. The claim feature is in red signifiying that I cannot claim it for my federation toon. This ship should be available for me to claim since it is a cross-faction ship. I submitted a ticket to get it fixed but they refered me back to the forum for assistence. Is anyone else having this issue and when can I claim my ship?

what is the target number for a drain build?

I saw a few threads when researching and saw that drain effectiveness maxes out when you get drain to 200? that seems like a ludicrously low number, I can get that with three sci consoles.

Power Siphon Drones

I posted something on reddit, but not sure it'll get answered there (as it's on a mega thread). I am building a drain build, and was wondering if the Power Siphon Drones are actually really good for drain builds? I mean, I get they are meant for draining, but I don't know how efficient their draining powers are.

K13 ToS Twin Phasers animations broken.

When firing the K13 Twin Phaser Beam Arrays, they have a very ugly rectangle box around the beam that fires out of the ship. Its far more noticeable in beam overload. And also the beams were not affected by the reduced visual size patch. They still need to be worked on. Please fix them.

Beam: Overload visual bug

I found that when using Beam Overload with Phased Polaron DBBs it gives the visual of Phaser DBBs. I'd like this fixed as it is really weird to see Phaser DBB visual instead of the purple beams.

Intrepid Class Skin

Does anyone else out here support the development of a more canon Intrepid Class skin? While the 2014 update to the ship was much needed and welcomed, the look still Isn’t quite right. Even applying the Type 8B skin might be an improvement but not even that is available. Again, another canon ship without canon appearance. Most have been nicely addressed through the years. It would be nice if this were too.

Can't we just shoot Madran?

Madran the Ferengi has been a thorn in the player character's side for quite a long while. Wouldn't it be satisfying if there was an option to just shoot him and/or arrest him the moment we meet him next time?

When do you think we'll see the next warbird release?

When the announcement came that Romulan players would get to use Fed/KDF ships up to T6, it set off a bad smelling storm. The recon raptor/escort ship pack was released. Some people said that it wouldn't become a pattern, "nothing to see here," "wait and see what Cryptic do," "everything's fine," drek like that. Then came ship packs, lockbox ship releases, promo ship packs. An embargo for about two years. Still no T6 Ha'feh, still no T6 Ha'nom, still no T6 Romulan carrier-esque ship that isn't bound to a lockbox/promo pack, still no Romulan D-7.

Finally a quad pack was burped out, giving the JH a new warship as well. Then back to the embargo. Will this be the new pattern? 1 singular warbird, once every two years?

This also applies to JH ships. I don't recall a JH specific shuttle(if someone knows otherwise, I'm happy to be corrected), certainly not a General's Chariot LTS equivalent either. Same with T-5U/T6 JH LTS ship.

My thought is that we won't see another warbird(singularity core using ship) or JH ship put out, until after the esteedee/mushroom kingdom stuff with J'ula Whiplash is resolved, the Mirror Leeta/Killy arcs are finished, and STO Diplomacy Grandpa(Picard) comes out, if that. Ballpark guess says 1 1/2 to 2 years. When do you guys think it'll happen?

Bug With Fleet Character

System: PS4
PSN: Surface-Warrior
Character: Mok

So, here is the situation, I created a fleet, last year, with my Jem’Hadar character, Marak’Mal.

I added on of my other characters to the fleet, Hammerin’ Hank.

With Marak’Mal, I was able to promote Hammerin’ Hank to provisional officer.

When the DSC characters launched I created Mok. I added Mok to the fleet, as well. My plan was to just advance that character based on fleet credit donations just like the other fleet members.

However, I cannot promote Mok with either of my other characters. I get a notice that I cannot promote myself. (Even though I was able to promote my Hammerin’ Hank character).

So, I created a character on a completely different account & promoted that charcoal to provisional officer.

After the promotion took effect I tried to promote Mok, but I get an error notice that states “Hammerin’ Hank has a higher rank than you.”

The character I’m trying to promote is not Hammerin’ Hank, but the system is registering Mok as Hammerin’ Hank when it comes to promotions.

Mok is only at the first rank. The character on the separate account is at provisional officer. Technically it is the same rank as Hammerin’ Hank.

My fleet permissions are set so that provisional officers can promote to any rank.

I want to submit a trouble tickets on this but I cannot find the link to submit trouble tickets.

Updates to Patrol Rewards

Since the release of the new Patrol UI, and the inclusion of Patrol Missions in our current ongoing Mycelial Crisis Event, we've been very pleased to see the positive response we've seen regarding this content. This is step one in a plan to be able to expand this system in the future, continuing to bring more "bite-sized" content options to the forefront of players' gameplay experiences in STO. The fact that players are engaging with it, and giving us good feedback on it, helps reinforce those goals.

Now that the system is live, we've discovered a few inconsistencies and unfortunate errors in the process that we're taking pains to correct. Correcting them involves modifying the rewards received for engaging in this content. All of the following changes either have been made, or will soon go live, in an effort to get the overall experience of running Patrols into a consistent and rewarding state:

* Added Dilithium to Patrols in the new Patrol System that were missing it as a reward
* Adjusted Dilithium rewards to a more appropriate value for time spent playing
* Added a Daily Bonus for the first Patrol played each day, per character (2x Marks and Dilithium)
* Adjusted erroneously-high XP modifiers that were present in Delta Patrols. This will only reduce the "End of Mission" rewards, and has no effect on XP received from defeating enemies, nor any affect on Starship Mastery XP received.
* Increased the XP/MasteryXP modifier present on Patrol maps in the new Patrol System from 2x to 3x.

Some ups, some downs, and we're still evaluating exactly what role Patrol content is intended to fill in the game, now that the feature is in the hands of our players. Your continued feedback will help us continue to bring Patrols into a state we can be confident about, and everyone can enjoy.

WTH is going on with TFO PVE difficulty?!

$

I’ve been playing a little while (Advanced Difficulty Gameplay and TFO settings), and have been a longtime “Rare, Mk XII” player for most of my alts. After a couple of Phoenix prize pack runs, I have given all alts some “Epic Mk XV” sets and my main runs that gear on board exclusively.

Well, I have noticed a perceptible albeit somewhat marginal difference in damage dealt to enemy ships given the upgrades.... however, I have noticed over the past week or so I have been getting absolutely F’ing crushed in TFOs.

I have played long enough to account for certain things like adjusting to moving from a big carrier to a small escort. It’s not some subtle change like transitioning from a L5 unlocked T6 ship to a L1 T6 or something like that, having played enough runs to rule that out. And the fact that my main, (who has all sets maxed at Epic) being smashed this quickly and easily is utterly ridiculous... Especially when considering it was not so with “Very Rare Mk XII” gear and every day new endeavor rewards (supposedly) make my characters harder to defeat.

I do not run tailored loadouts, for TFOs/missions, so arguably one TFO with enemies running antiproton may be more damaging to Alt 1, while another TFO with enemies running Polaron may be more damaging to Alt 2’s setup. This is probably the only variable I cannot account for yet.

Does anybody know what the deal is? Was there a new patch that increased difficulty in Advanced settings? Is there some stupid metric that scales PVE opponents to the players’ gear/power level?

Lethean BOffs losing quality upon commissionning

I just created a new Lethean toon and I sent her a bunch of purple BOffs, including two Letheans with Efficient and two Nausicaans pirates. Something odd happened when I commissioned the Letheans; they went down from purple to blue. I did commission (by mistake) a non Efficcent purple Lethean couple days ago on another toon and nothing like that happened. Nausicaans posed no problems.

Anyone else experienced such?
