Earth Spacedock (RP)

Hi guys! I got a request to start a serious RP thread, so here it is. That last one got out of control, lol. So I guess we can keep the craziness over there. I'll add my first post here as soon as I can, but in the meantime feel free to start. (cc @the0infamous )

RP/fic any of your Fed/Rom Captains at Earth Spacedock:

800px-Earth_Spacedock_Main_Concourse.png?version=74e03354dfc821f81f89a5b1badc109d

Rules/tips:
  • No NSFW stuff.
  • Don't take over other people's RP characters (unless they're okay with it).
  • In general, 'conveniently omit' context that denotes your character as "the player/the one" from in-game, and, rather, generalize events, so as to maintain a shared semi-non-conflicting RP-thread continuity. [Notes: It is not to say your character didn't engage in specific episodes/events, but not to specify they did either.] [Exceptions: Large scale events, like fleet battles (i.e. The Iconian attack at Earth, or general Na'Khul alerts) are encouraged to mention, but may still require some generalization. Use your best judgement!] For major exceptions to this rule, see the discussion thread for an ongoing list of episode/event involvement.
  • The RP is in a perpetual state of the year 2410 (until the game moves forward).

List of Earth Spacedock department head NPCs:
  • Commander Allura, Operations, Executive officer; Aenar, female
  • Commander Barnes, Shipyard; Benzite, male
  • Commander Batou, Engineering; Human, male
  • Commander Reeve, Security; Human, male
  • Commander Lucrecia, counselor, female
  • Doctor Melzine, Infirmary; human, male
  • Ensign Otis (hands out reports/information)

Types of play (can combine more than one):
  • Integrated with story - Join other Captains in solving an issue
  • One off/or more than one off - Like a mini fanfic, make a short stop to replenish supplies, drop prisoners, etc.
  • Side story - Posts about stuff your Captain is dealing with. Can work well with "Integrated with story".
  • (That's all I can think of right now. There's probably more ways.)

Welcome to the Victory is Life Foundry Challenge voting thread. Here are listed the missions entered into the challenge. Please play through all the missions and select which one you think is the best, and best represents the theme of the challenge.

Challenge Topic:

For this Foundry challenge, make a mission for Jem’Hadar or Cardassian player characters. The plot may be anything you wish, as long as it is geared toward either or both of these playable races.

When you have played through the missions and selected your favorite, send a forum PM, Twitter DM or in-game e-mail to @drogyn1701. This will serve as your official vote. Limit 1 vote per person. Challenge authors may vote, but not for their own mission.

The voting deadline is 4 p.m. US Pacific Time, Wednesday, Oct 12.

If there is any Foundry downtime during the voting period, it will be extended accordingly. Authors are asked not to work on their missions during the voting period, unless you find an issue preventing people from completing the mission.

In the event of a tie, @duncanidaho11’s cat has been chosen as the impartial tie-breaking judge.

You may leave a review on each mission you play if you wish, but it is not required.

STO T6 TACTICAL ESCORT (think this is in the right place)

Hi, I am still somewhat new and a casual player, but have spent some money on the game and bought a Tactical Escort T6, which I am enjoying using. Just after a few question.
The Quantum Warhead Module, these really do seem to do anything when fired if even put a dent on a ships? Is this normal or would I be doing something wrong? I do take out the ships shields first.
Can I get a cloak on this, and would it be a battle cloak? If so how would I do this?
Also keep getting invite to join feel what is this about? How does it work?
Also the shields were at 5,773.4 Maximum Shield Capacity but I put this equipment on a shuttle for Gamma Operation and now the Maximum Shield Capacity us 4,500 ish, why would this be?
Here is a look at the Build so far.
Do not know is it makes any difference but I use Xbox one.

Starfleet Liberty Force is recruiting for a different kind of social gaming. Membership satisfaction is our focus and we are not the corporate like entity kind of fleet. We bring in the social connection that most fleets lack and we are proud to put you in the center of the action.

Wouldn't you rather be part of an exciting group of gamers who care about each other instead of being a mere number in a fleet's roster?

Are you tired of looking for fleets that have no goals in making a difference for member satisfaction.

If you answer to any of these questions is yes then join us in the success story of a well established and friendly "Starfleet Liberty Force". Starfleet's finest fleet...where you always have a voice and input...

We are not the small kind of fleet struggling to grow but we are a well established and large enough fleet to accommodate all kinds of players from different gaming preferences and timezones.

Happy gaming!!!

Why did the Devs create Salvage to use for re-engineering gear?

$

It seems odd to me that the Devs created a whole new resource to use for re-engineering gear. I mean, why didn't they use the otherwise useless Gold Pressed Latinum instead of creating the ability to "Salvage" items?
In the Star Trek Universe there isn't much, maybe nothing, as valuable as Gold Pressed Latinum. The Devs need to be reminded of this, it seems they don't know. We have very little to choose from when it comes to spending our GPL. Ship holograms are fairly useless in my opinion and do not cost a whole heck of a lot. Plus we have the Ferengi Admirlity that rewards a ton of GPL. I have toons in the game that currently have upwards of 10 million GPL and I can't do anything with it that helps me in any way. Cosmetics are unimportant.
I just don't understand this at all. They could have very easily made the re-engineering cost GPL instead of creating a whole new resource.
So, since they really dropped the ball on that, how about introduce some USEFUL stuff that we can buy with the millions of GPL most of us now have that is just collecting dust.

I know it sounds kinda stupid but one of our fleet members gave up on this mission. After making some fun of him I decided to try it myself under the same circumstances. I disabled all my space and starship traits, i changed my personal space traits to the regular free ones and disabled specializations and doff system. I did use some mix between green and purple mk xii gear on a standard Shuttle.

The Jem'Hadar attacking you with dual cannons and quantum torpedoes while you shields get fast drained the quantum's shot at you don't really care if you got shields on or not. It took me (a Veteran Player) several tries to get through the first part and past the attack ship. I don't know how you guys to expect new players to get through there. The character used was a science on LVL 65.

Of course the mission has 0 challenge when i go in there with a mk xv geared toon with rep system, all the traits bells and whistles.

The reason i post that is because the our new player nearly quit this game cause he wasted half a day on this one mission and wonder if you guys could test this missions under the same circumstances to maybe adjust the Jem'Hadar Fighters.

An Introduction to The House of Kular

NEH DAQ MAY' 'OH TLHINGAN TEH TLHINGAN
ONLY IN BATTLE IS A KLINGON TRULY KLINGON

The House of Kular, or HoK for short, is the United Federation of Planets (UFP) division responsible for the support of STO's Klingon faction, along with all Klingon-aligned Romulans.
HoK supports the Klingon faction through three primary fields: Fleet Management, Event Support, and Forum Support. HoK manages all of this with a great team of staff filling several different roles, including:

Battle Officers: HoKs front-line warriors responsible for the planing and hosting of events for UFP's Klingon population.

Battle Masters: The staff responsible for maintaining HoK's fleet holdings, and making sure there is always projects available for members to earn Fleet Credits.

Orion Syndicate Traders: Members entrusted with looking after HoK's fleet banks, and acquiring rare & expensive items to sell in our Fleet Shop at a discount.

Positions in these job rolls are often available for members who are interested in giving something back to the community.

What The House of Kular offers it members:

  • Fleet Management: In total HoK manages a grand total of eight holdings and two banks spread across two fleets in-game, of which the main fleet has every upgrade complete (until they add the next one). Along with invites, promotions, Roll Call processing and the messages of the day - HoK is, partly, our in-game admin power-horse for the Klingon Defense Force.
  • Event Support: If fleet management is the pint, events are the blood wine. Supported through a dedicated event team, the largest portion of HoK's staff sees to this field with complete focus. Including but not limited to all end-game PvE content runs, themed PvP events, Bat'leth competitions, and massive Fleet Days - there is something for everyone.
  • Forum Support: Finally, HoK support's STO's Klingon faction on the UFP's forums. Under these forums members can discuss, among themselves, builds, upcoming content, make guides, and most importantly request an invite to the fleet.

First, I can confirm that with both characters born on Tribble and characters transferred to Tribble from Holodeck, the sponsorship is automatic. I was worried when I first loaded a fed toon that had not run the Omega rep and did not see the change in points rewarded for the daily and hourly submissions. However, once I went to a toon that had completed omega and went back, the toon had the double points sponsorship added.

I also transferred toon from Holodeck that had completed most reputations. All checked Tribble toons now have the sponsorship applied.

I did notice that it looks like either Jem'Hadar toons cannot apply sponsorship or that the Gamma rep does not have the automatic sponsorship ability.

On a side note, switching characters on the character selection screen now ends up with an extreme close-up of your BoFF's feet and you character is "missing". Logging in and backing out fixes this until you swap characters.
