Problem description:
As it currently stands consoles like the Plasmonic Leech and its faction counterparts does not work with the skill passive Drain Infection. According to the ability's description, "Any time you cause an enemy to suffer an energy drain or shield drain, they will also be afflicted with /.../ electrical damage". The Plasmonic Leech drains energy from targets but it never afflicts this sort of electrical damage otherwise provided by Drain Infection.
Deviation:
By observation Drain Infection currently only seems to work with science class activation abilities such as Charged Particle Burst, Tachyon Beam, Tyken Rift and so forth. In particular, abilities that drain either shield or energy power. In addition, the tooltip for Drain Infection is added only to abilities like these if you hover over them with the mouse cursor. If done the same to any weapons affected by the Plasmonic Leech console, or when looking directly at the console tooltip the extra added information for Drain Infection is not there.
Problem reproduction:
Equip the Plasmonic Leech console and disable auto fire for all weapon slots. Target a single target and press one of the weapons that triggers the Plasmonic Leech passive, then observe the damage floating numbers after the last shot has been fired. No such damage floaters will occur. Now do the same with the abovementioned science class bridge officer abilities and post-energy-fire damage floaters will be displayed.
Workaround:
There is currently no workaround as per observation.
Is all of this intended? Is Drain Infection not meant to work with Plasmonic Leech, or is this a bug? Regardless of its intended purpose I am still reporting it as a bug for possible future fixes if deemed necessary.
