Things for KDF players to do with Agents of Yesterday

So, AoY is a fed focussed expansion. Not much we can do about it, and completely understandable from a business perspective. But if you're a KDF /Rom diehard, what do you do?

My own thoughts, and plans, are these:

1. Run a Temporal Agent for the new content. I suspect that most people have at least a grudging affection for TOS, and there are some very tempting account rewards appearing on Tribble for levelling a Temporal Agent Recruit. I'll probably run one for the content and benefits, using second-hand gear and event ships. Maybe a TOS era Breen with a very clunky environment suit :).

2. Don't feel too bad that the flavor-of-the-month Temporal vessels have no Klingon models. These things *cost* and you can always do something else with the EC / Zen / Dil you would have spent on temporal vessels. Beef up some existing alts, for example - rather than buying the new Temporal starships, I'm looking to acquire a Krenn Destroyer and complete the Temporal Fragmentation set on my existing Korath setup. I know that's a pretty high end example, but the point applies elsewhere.

3. Create or dust off your own Klingon Temporal Agent. Really, the big selling point for the TOS faction is the ability to have TOS-themed ships at endgame; however, we've had this in the KDF since 2012. The venerable Fleet K't'inga may not compete with the new starships for shiny abilities, but it's there and can still hold its own when properly built (the last time I had mine parsed in ISA, it was over 20K DPS...). And it's still going to be the only canon TOS ship at endgame (T5U/T6) level. Judging by the steady trickle of TOS Klingons I see on Qo'nos, the Empire has its fair share of agents. If you don't have your own Quch'ha - WHY NOT?! There are going to be a lot of new, TOS-centred Feds running around. I'm sure the familiar sight of a D7 Battlecruiser closing with weapons powered will be a welcome reminder of home for them.

4. Don't give up. The KDF has done remarkably well for content parity since Delta Rising, with distinctively Klingon versions of all the specialist ships and revisits of classic designs. The Iconian War had a strong Klingon-centric element, with the Qo'nos based missions and House Pegh meaning that Cryptic have at least honoured their intention of producing faction-agnostic, Klingon-themed missions. Understandably, all of their effort is now focused on delivering the new items and content for what is potentially their most high-profile expansion to date - TOS content on the event of the series' 50th anniversary - but there's still half the year to go in which they will continue to release new stuff. My gut feeling is, before the end of this year we'll see Klingon ships with Temporal Ops seating; the Vor'cha is conspicuously absent from the Iconic Ships line, despite being present at the Battle of Procyon V alongside the ENT-J. Or maybe we'll see a T6 raider with 5 forward weapons, battle cloak and Temp Ops seating.
